Preshute Primary School Rain Wall

Project Overview

  • Location: Preshute Primary School, Wiltshire
  • Client: Wendy Allen Garden Designs
  • Project Start: May 2017

Project Brief

The project involves creating a rain wall where downpipes are redirected into flow-through stormwater planters. These planters collect and filter rainwater, helping to reduce flash flooding.

Project Details

We were approached by Wendy Allen of Wendy Allen Garden Designs to assist with a pilot project for a rain wall at Preshute Primary School. Upon reviewing the drawings, we were enthusiastic about the concept and eager to contribute.

In a site meeting with Wendy, we chalked the walls to mark the pipework routes, enabling us to determine the exact downpipe bends and fittings required. We collaborated with our manufacturer to create fittings that adhered as closely as possible to Wendy’s design.

Challenges and Solutions

One challenge was ensuring the pipework followed the chalk lines accurately, requiring bespoke fittings. Our team worked closely with the manufacturer to achieve this precision, ensuring the installation met the design specifications.

Outcome

The rain wall project successfully integrates functionality with environmental benefits, reducing flash flooding through innovative rainwater management. This project demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and our capability to execute bespoke designs.
